As the leading F&B producer, serving consumers across all age groups, ICBP strives to deliver products with balanced nutrition. We actively support Indofood’s initiatives to raise public awareness on the importance of balanced diets and healthy lifestyles by participating in outreach programs, including the Scaling-Up Nutrition (“SUN”) Movement, Posyandu, and Indofood Nutrition Care.
- SUN Movement
The SUN Movement is a global public-private partnership aimed at eliminating all forms of malnutrition. It is supported by the SUN Business Network (“SBN”), which has more than 600 global business members.
In 2020, ICBP supported in the SUN annual meeting and the “Global SUN Pitch Competition”, participated by 21 finalists who have won the Sun Pitch Competition in 2019 from each of their countries (Asia and Africa). This competition aims to showcase SMEs that are working on a solution to reduce anemia and under nutritious by developing or introducing a new, affordable and nutritious food product for local vulnerable populations, and connect them to the technical assistance and investment opportunities.
Topic for the global competition is “Rethinking Nutrition Innovations” and topic for Indonesia is derived from the global topic which is “Anemia and Undernourishment”.
- Integrated Health Post
The Posyandu program has been highly effective in raising nutritional awareness and reducing stunted growth in the communities. In 2020, we continued to train our healthcare volunteers and educate Posyandu visitors on “The Importance of the First 1,000 Days of Life” and “Health and Cleanliness”. The Posyandus were only operational in the first quarter of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the Nutrition & Special Foods Divisionsupported home visits conducted by doctors, midwives, and healthcare volunteers to provide essential healthcare services to women and babies in the rural areas. This has led to a 40% increase in visits to healthcare professionals and Puskesmas to learn about the importance of nutrition in the first 1,000 days of life, as compared to 2019.
- Indofood Nutrition Care
ICBP operates a fleet of mobile clinics throughout Java and Medan under the Indofood Nutrition Care program. The mobile clinics educate communities on the importance of balanced nutrition, and provide free healthcare services, such as prenatal checks for expectant mothers. The program was only operated in the first quarter of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Plans to resume will depend on the prevailing restrictions and policies on COVID-19 imposed by the Company and/or the Government.
- Nutrition for Workforce
The Nutrition for Workforce program was set up to ensure that food served in our employee canteens are abided by the government’s nutritional guidelines. In 2020, efforts were conducted through surveys on the nutritional quality of the menus available at our staff canteen.
In addition, education to the employee were also conducted online due to COVID-19. Highlights included a Balanced Nutrition comic series, nutrition and health webinars, tips for staying healthy at home, and online exercise classes conducted three times a week.
- Lactation Rooms
Lactation rooms, equipped with sterilization equipment and educational materials on fetal care and nutrition, are provided in our operating units to support nursing mothers among our employees. In 2020, online seminars were initiated to help pregnant and nursing mothers learn more about nutrition and health.
